Job Overview

The Co-operative Heritage Trust is the charity which runs Rochdale Pioneers Museum on Toad Lane – where the modern co‑operative movement started in 1844. Our museum is accredited (444) by Arts Council England; we collect and care for material which tells the story of co‑ops in the UK. We are looking for someone for 21 hours per week
* to care for, plan and document our museum collections and who can use a variety of skills including digital engagement to engage with target audiences as part of our charity’s mission. Collections review and disposal will be a feature of this work alongside collecting to reflect the Trust’s priorities and forward plan.
* This is a permanent part‑time role, and the Trustees are open to offering it on either a two or three day per week basis depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. The role is permanently contracted but is subject to a 12‑week probation period. The museum itself is open every second Saturday and all CHT staff are expected to provide essential cover for front line staff on rotation and may need to work occasional weekends or evenings to support events.

Responsibilities

  • Use digital engagement techniques to reach target audiences.
  • Provide essential cover for front‑line staff on rotation.
  • Support events that may require working occasional weekends or evenings.
Position Details
  • Permanent part‑time role – 21 hours per week.
  • Flexible schedule – the role can be delivered over two or three days per week.
  • Probation period of 12 weeks.
  • Opening times: museum opens every second Saturday.
