Acute Oncology Nurse Advisor – The Christie NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking for a compassionate, hardworking and committed registered nurse with a wealth of experience in oncology, haematology or emergency care to join our Acute Oncology Management Service.
As an Acute Oncology Nurse Advisor you will provide 24‑hour telephone triage assessments for patients receiving systemic anti‑cancer treatment. Your key responsibilities include:
- Clinically assessing patients who are acutely unwell following treatment and arranging emergency review as necessary.
- Giving advice, support and reassurance to patients and their loved ones throughout their cancer journey.
- Liaising with all services involved in the patient’s cancer care, including the Christie, local hospitals and community services.
- Prioritising and risk‑assessing patients who require emergency admission using the UKONS triage tool in accordance with the Trust Patient Flow Operational Policy.
Required experience and qualifications:
- Registered nurse with experience in oncology or emergency care.
- Knowledge of UKONS triage tool and patient flow policies preferred, but not required.
- Experience in palliative care and management is desirable.
