Aerosol jet printing of 2D materials and molecules
Applications are invited for a Post-Doc position available in the group of Prof Cinzia Casiraghi, department of Chemistry, University of Manchester. The project will focus on the use of an aerosol jet printer, which has been recently purchased by the group. The postdoc will optimize and use the printer with the aim of achieving two objectives: i) testing crystallization of molecular precursors by aerosol jet printing to compare with the blow coating process developed in our group;
ii) printing films made of water-based 2D material inks made in the group with the final aim to control their chemical local composition for target devices, such as memristors.
The post is available to be filled ASAP for two years with possible extension, subjected to funding. Applicants should have a PhD (by the start date) in Chemistry, Material Science, Physics or related subjects. Significant experience with the aerosol jet printer or at least a piezoelectric printer, as well as in the formulation of printable 2D material inks, is required to be shortlisted for interview.
Preference will be given to applicants that will demonstrate this experience applied to memristic devices. The candidate should also be well‑organised and self‑motivated with excellent oral and communication skills. A strong publication record in internationally peer‑reviewed journals is required, with at least 2 works in well‑known and respected journals as first author. The closing date for applications is 09/01/2026 with interviews currently planned in the following two weeks.
