Pay range: £70,929 – £80,000 per year, with a bonus and other benefits.

The Loans & Affordability Platform provides a forward‑thinking, diverse team focused on digitising the Lloyds Banking Group Retail Bank. This role is based in Manchester, full‑time, and involves hybrid working: 40% in office.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will collaborate across engineering and product teams, design, build, test, and support backend microservices and RESTful APIs, and help drive engineering excellence and transformation.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices and RESTful APIs using Java (17+) and Spring Framework.
• Ensure high‑quality, well‑tested, and robust code, creating unit, integration, and pipeline tests.
• Co‑coach and mentor other engineers, supporting their growth and development.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement (Kanban, Jira, Confluence).
• Work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver customer‑focused solutions.

• Strong experience in Java (17+) and Spring Boot microservice development.
• Proficiency with containerised services such as Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong understanding of database design and data modelling.
• Experience with end‑to‑end software development lifecycle and delivery.
• Familiarity with agile development methods and tooling.

• Experience with Type Script/JavaScript, Harness, or Quarkus frameworks.
