I am hiring for a Fintech business looking for a Principal Developer. They are a multi‑award winning financial tech company, delivering software solutions that reliably facilitate millions of pounds worth of transactions and securely handle sensitive user data.

They are going through a huge modernisation transformation which will involve multiple greenfield projects, and are looking for a Principal that can have strong technical conversations with the leaders in the company, challenge their opinions and push them to create the best solution possible.

This will will be a mixture between technical strategy, architecture & software development.

This is a key hire for them. Someone to lead modernisation, shaping technical direction whilst staying hands‑on. Define the team’s architecture, influence solution design, and lead by example, coding alongside the team while mentoring and upskilling developers.

• Hybrid working 2 days in office in Cheshire
• 23 Days holiday + bank holidays + Birthday off (increases with time)

• Strong C# / .NET experience (Core, 6, 8, or similar)
• Cloud, ideally Azure
• Hands‑on experience with automated testing, TDD, and maintaining high-quality code
• Proven experience mentoring and guiding other developers
• Comfortable designing greenfield solutions and modernising legacy systems
• Experience leading development projects and driving technical decision‑making
• Familiarity with cloud architecture, microservices, Dev Ops, or CI/CD pipelines is a plus

• Driving technical delivery on key projects and end‑to‑end solutions
• Helping shape architectural direction and coding standards
• Mentoring and developing team members
• Refactoring and improving existing systems while building new functionality
• Collaborating with product and technical stakeholders to balance strategic and practical delivery
