Detailed OverviewIn accordance with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives standards and Fraser Health mission, the role provides direct individualized nursing care in an outpatient setting, supporting patients requiring minor surgical procedures, diagnostic endoscopy or interventional therapies. The nurse assesses, plans, provides, and evaluates nursing care, including discharge teaching for adults and children.
ResponsibilitiesEducation and Experience
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Two (2) years recent relevant clinical experience in the designated clinical area, or equivalent education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area.
- Initiat[e] and maintain intravenous therapy.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessment and provide technical, therapeutic interventions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, public, and interprofessional team through verbal, written, and electronic means.
- Promote person‑centered care, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
- Problem‑solve using data from multiple sources.
- Educate patients and families on health topics.
- Organize and prioritize work efficiently.
- Collaborate with and support interprofessional teamwork.
- Apply research‑based evidence to nursing decisions.
- Operate relevant equipment and computer applications.
- Have the physical ability to perform job duties.
