Estrid is a nervous dog who panics when large dogs run towards her. She has good recall, loves treats and praise, and is usually fine when walked on a long line. You will use the long line to keep her safe and help build her confidence when meeting other dogs and people.

Dreyfus is an energetic German Shepherd Dog who enjoys meeting other dogs but may get excited; he will require a loose lead after initial excitement. He loves sniffing, playing with a ball, has good recall most of the time, and will run if confronted with aggressive dogs.

• Walk Estrid on a long line to build confidence and maintain safety.
• Walk Dreyfus on a loose lead after initial excitement; supervise and handle sniffing.
• Walk each dog separately for about an hour each, once a week to start.
• Use a long line until the dogs are very familiar with each other.
• Hold a dog when necessary to prevent bolting or excessive running.
• Build confidence in meeting people and other dogs.
• Ensure that dogs recall and respond to treats or praise.
