Our Energy subsector, a key component of WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients from coast to coast. From small installations to multi-phase integrated mega projects, we support your upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas activities and energy transition markets at all stages of the project lifecycle, anywhere in the world. We are focused on providing design, engineering and environmental services that contribute to climate adaptation and mitigation, sustain the use and protection of water and marine resources, protect and restore biodiversity, and support our clients as they transition to low carbon solutions.
Our experts work together to offer our clients services that live up to our vision: to meet the highest standards in the industry and innovate to exceed them.
What you can expect to do here: You will collaborate with different disciplines at WSP and provide expertise and client deliverables on projects. Day-to-day activities, completed with the guidance of a more senior process engineer, include:

- Determine appropriate sizes for equipment based on process requirements and prepare data sheets detailing specifications and requirements.
- Perform calculations to determine the optimal size for process lines, considering flow rate, pressure drop, and temperature.
- Prepare data sheets for instruments used in the process, including instrument specifications, operating conditions, and maintenance requirements.
- Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) to represent the flow of materials through the process, identifying major equipment, process conditions, and flow rates.
- Markup Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to reflect changes in the process or equipment.
- Conduct studies to understand and improve the process, including analyzing process data, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies to identify and evaluate potential hazards and mitigate risks.
- Review vendor drawings to ensure they meet process requirements, checking dimensions, materials, and design details.
- Assist with smaller projects or act as alliance support on larger projects; support the Area Lead to complete tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry as a process engineer, ideally with gas processing plant experience
- P.Eng licensed with APEGA
- Enjoy working in a team environment in an intermediate role to develop your skills
- Strong communication and report writing skills
