As a member of our inter-professional team, you will work closely with Plastic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Technologists, the Fracture Clinic, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Wound Care Nurses in providing patient care within the Plastic Clinic. As a member of this team, you will also work collaboratively with General Surgeons, and Ophthalmologists to provide patient care within the Minor Surgery Clinic. You will utilize your clinical assessment, patient teaching, communication, critical thinking and leadership skills in this fast-paced environment where our focus is patient/family centered care, evidence based practice and customer satisfaction.
What you bring to the role:
Certificate in Practical nursing requiredPost graduate certificates in aseptic procedures (Perioperative Certificate), physical assessment and medications is requiredCurrent Certificate of Registration with the College of NursesCurrent BCLS certificationMinimum 2 years recent experience working in an operating room setting as a scrub nurseMinimum of 2 years recent experience, within the past year, in an ambulatory care setting including Plastics, Fracture and minor procedures.Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, completion of an operating room courseDemonstrated knowledge of patient educationDemonstrated knowledge of suture removal, dressing changes and assisting with minor procedures is requiredRPNAO membership is preferredDemonstrated excellent physical assessment skillsAbility to critically think, problem solve and function in a fast paced clinic environmentAbility to act as a resource and role modelAbility to assist with start up of a new clinicProficient computer skillsDemonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environmentDemonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independentlyWell developed organization, communication, interpersonal skillsEvidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experienceDemonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standardsDemonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredWork Schedule:
The successful candidate is required to be available Monday to Friday ) when needed. Please note schedules may change based on operational needs.
Compensation:
Salary Band CU10: $34.70 - $35.97 per hour
