Assistant Buyer

Overview

Assistant Buyer role at T & T Supermarket. Reporting to the Category Manager, the Assistant Buyer is responsible for providing assistance and support to the Buying team of the assigned category by coordinating with internal departments and external suppliers from local and overseas, generating and analyzing performance data and reports, following up on project timelines, actions required, marketing POPs and other matters related to the assigned product category.

• Assist buying team to communicate and follow up with local and overseas vendors of the products category assigned
• Liaise with internal departments and stores on promotional campaigns, marketing materials, project timelines, follow-up actions and matters related to product launches
• Generate periodic or ad hoc reports related to store sales, inventory, category and special events
• Provide data analysis, administrative and clerical support and other duties as assigned by the supervisor
• Prepare marketing and promotion materials, including translating messages in English and Chinese

• Completed post-secondary education in Business, Marketing or related disciplines
• Knowledge, passion and awareness of Asian grocery products is strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an asset
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple assignments promptly and accurately
• Some experience handling overseas suppliers is an asset
• Advanced knowledge in MS Excel; proficient in MS Word and Outlook
