Marlborough House is a 20-bedded forensic Medium secure ward specialising in services for people with enduring mental illness. Our care is rooted in the Recovery Model
, emphasizing individual strengths, hope, and meaningful engagement. We actively encourage family involvement.

You will be instrumental in enriching service users' lives by designing and delivering programs that foster hope, build skills, and support personal recovery goals.

You will:

Design & Lead: Plan, organise, and lead a diverse range of therapeutic and engaging activities tailored to service user needs.

Support Recovery: Ensure activities align with the principles of the Recovery Model
, promoting independence and social integration, in collaboration with the clinical team.

Key Team Member: Contribute vital positive energy and support to the ward's atmosphere

Practical Details

Hours: Shift pattern between 08:00 and 20:00

Main duties of the job

Deliver meaningful therapeutic and wellbeing activities that support recovery and social engagement for service users on inpatient forensic wards.

Work closely with nursing and occupational therapy teams to design, facilitate, and evaluate programmes in line with service guidelines.

Encourage service user participation and progress by creating safe, inclusive environments and contributing to holistic care planning.

Skills & Knowledge:
  • Active interest in & willingness to participate in delivering a wide range of therapeutic activities
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with patients, carers & staff
  • Time management & organisational skills to undertake activities
  • Prior skill & experience in a relevant area of work e.g. creative arts, crafts, physical fitness
  • Ability to risk assess both individuals and tasks.
  • Experience of running groups/sessions
Experience/ Qualifications/ Training
  • Care certificate or willingness to work towards one
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience of working with people in forensic services or criminal justice system.
