Heavy Equipment Operator - Construction

Our client, a prominent civil engineering and construction firm, is seeking an experienced and certified Heavy Equipment Operator to join their project team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. This role is critical for the successful execution of various construction projects, requiring proficiency in operating a range of heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, and loaders. You will be responsible for site preparation, material handling, and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently according to project plans and specifications.

• Operate heavy construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, and compactors, safely and efficiently.
• Perform site preparation, including excavation, grading, and earthmoving activities.
• Transport materials and equipment to and around construction sites as required.
• Ensure all equipment is operated in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations.
• Conduct daily inspections and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify any defects.
• Follow instructions from site supervisors and engineers regarding work scope and specifications.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient project progress.
• Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage and work performed.

• Valid Heavy Equipment Operator certification and a proven track record of safe operation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience operating various types of heavy construction machinery.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction site safety procedures and regulations.
• Ability to interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes.
• Strong understanding of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
• Good physical condition, with the ability to perform tasks requiring stamina and strength.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to the project sites in the Queenstown, Eastern Cape area.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, as project demands require.
