Siemens Energy is currently seeking highly talented and motivated candidates for a Wind Technician position at our Buffalo Plains wind farm. Safety and Quality form a central part of our culture, and the ideal candidate will have a strong focus on both.
The candidate will work together with a multi-disciplinary group to ensure top performance on our wind farms.
The ideal candidate has the ability to work a flexible schedule, on-call, along with the ability to analyze and resolve problems independently and efficiently. They will provide excellent service to our customers, have the ability to work on complex systems in challenging environments, and participate in the development of new field procedures and best practices.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Responsible for the service, maintenance and troubleshooting of Siemens Gamesa SG4X and SG5X wind turbines at our Buffalo Plains site near Lomond, Alberta.Provide excellent service to our customers by completing services and paperwork on timeThe work environment entails working inside the wind turbine enclosure at an elevated height of 300 feetExtensive training and testing will be provided covering safety and technical job requirementsPhysical requirements of the job include but not limited to:
Ladder climbing minimum 267 steps, up stair climbing, standing for long periods, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, work above shoulders, pushing, pulling, exposure to vibration, chemicals, confined spaces and extreme weather conditionsCapable of efficiently tackling additional roles and responsibilities at an operating wind farmWhat You Bring
Demonstrated knowledge in electrical systems including such as PLC programming and convertersDemonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a team environmentStrong ability to coordinate and plan daily/weekly work with a high level of quality orientation, ability to analyze and resolve problems independently with a high level of results orientationGood computer skills, is competent in the use of Microsoft platforms like Outlook and ExcelMust be eligible to hold a valid Passport and Driver’s License. Must be legally able to work in Canada.
