In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:

  • 5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:

  • $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
  • $2.75 per hour for evenings

Dinosaur Provincial Park UNESCO World Heritage Site

is rich in cultural and natural heritage. The provincial park protects the unique badlands landscape and the Red Deer River that meanders through the Park. As one of Alberta’s premiere park attractions, Dinosaur Provincial Park is treasured and enjoyed every year by many visitors of all ages.

Kinbrook Island Provincial Park

is also a very popular destination for camping and outdoor recreation. The lake, beach area, surrounding marshes and large campground provide many outdoor activities such as boating, swimming, sunbathing, fishing, hiking, bird watching and more.

Role Responsibilities

Our Caretaking team strives to maintain Alberta Parks’ high standards of customer service and safety. Are you looking for a summer job working in the outdoors? Are you willing to perform Caretaking duties and/or assume a leadership role as Caretaker Supervisor? If so, apply today!

The following tasks are to be completed by all Caretaking Staff:

  • Daily cleaning of all park buildings, facilities, and amenities within the park; including disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, washing, laundry, cobweb removal, and filling necessities; facilities also include vault toilets (outhouses), shower and washroom facilities, and housing facilities.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the caretaking shop; report any equipment issues to the Caretaking Supervisor.
  • Set up comfort camping facilities at the start of the season and take down comfort camping facilities at the end of the season as directed by Caretaking Supervisor; assist to keep the comfort camping equipment storage organized (Dinosaur Park only).
  • Assist with start / end of season cleaning of the housing units – mouse proofing living spaces and proper equipment storage.
  • Complete minor maintenance repairs and upkeep of these facilities.
  • Clean Comfort Camping units at checkout and be responsible for all cleaning/sanitization duties associated with the Conference Centre and housing facilities.
  • Collection and disposal of garbage & recycling.
  • Regular inspections and upkeep of assigned fleet vehicle(s).
  • Responsible for the upkeep and inspection of work spaces following Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) compliance protocols.
  • Complete all mandatory Government of Alberta online training courses.
  • Complete all Site Docs training requirements as well as daily Site Docs vehicle inspections.
  • Complete Performance Agreement (beginning, mid-season, & end of season).
