Help shape Teen Talk’s digital voice! We’re seeking a volunteer Social Media Lead to craft engaging content, grow our online presence, and showcase young people’s stories. Flexible hours, creative freedom, and the chance to make a real difference in our community.

What difference will you make?
  • Connecting communities: By sharing Teen Talk’s stories and updates, you’ll make it easier for families, volunteers, and supporters to engage with us—fostering belonging and encouraging participation.
  • Attracting support: A vibrant digital presence can spark interest from potential funders, partners, and volunteers. Every post has the potential to open doors to new opportunities and resources that sustain our work.

What are we looking for?

Skills & Experience

  • Social Media Management
    • Familiarity with Facebook and Instagram, including tools like Meta Business Suite or Creator Studio for planning and analysing posts.
  • Content Creation
    • Ability to write engaging captions and design visually appealing graphics using tools like Canva or Adobe Express. A natural storyteller who can adapt tone and style for different audiences.
  • Campaign Planning
    • Experience in developing and implementing content calendars, tracking engagement metrics, and evolving strategy based on performance.
  • Digital Safeguarding & Accessibility
    • Understanding how to communicate sensitively and inclusively—especially in youth work settings. Awareness of safeguarding guidelines and GDPR principles online.
  • Collaborative Communication
    • Comfortable liaising with staff and other volunteers to gather stories, images, and updates. Able to listen, refine ideas, and bring others’ contributions to life on screen.

Personal Qualities

  • Empathetic & Inclusive
    • Passionate about youth empowerment and committed to making online spaces safe and welcoming for all. Able to reflect diverse voices and perspectives.
  • Organised & Reliable
    • Capable of working flexibly and consistently, keeping posts scheduled and timely. Appreciates clarity and structure, while allowing space for spontaneity.
  • Proactive & Curious
    • Keeps up with social media trends and enjoys trying new formats (e.g., reels, stories, infographics). Not afraid to ask questions or suggest creative approaches.
  • Mission-Aligned
    • Deeply values community connection, wellbeing, and inclusivity. Understands that behind every post is a person—a young person, a parent, a potential supporter.

We don’t expect perfection—just someone who’s keen to learn, share ideas, and commit to creating online content that reflects the warmth and trust at the heart of Teen Talk.

What will you be doing?

Teen Talk is seeking a volunteer Social Media Lead to strengthen our digital presence and share the impact of our work with young people and families. You will manage and develop our social media activity, creating engaging content that highlights community events, milestones, and young people’s voices. Working closely with the Charity Director and Counsellors, you’ll receive regular updates and context, while having the freedom to propose new ideas that align with our safeguarding and inclusivity principles.

Key

priorities
  • Produce creative assets such as graphics and templates for campaigns
  • Increase engagement and follower growth on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms you recommend
  • Showcase young people’s achievements and promote Teen Talk’s values positively and consistently

We are flexible in how the role is shaped. You may choose to focus on one platform, support specific campaigns, or help train team members. Your input on tone, scheduling tools, and trends will be valued, and you’ll be supported by a collaborative team that celebrates creative contributions. This role is more than posting updates; it is about building a trusted and hopeful online space where young people feel seen, families stay connected, and funders and volunteers remain engaged.
