Overview
Mental Health for Older Adults Community Service (MHOAS) is looking to recruit mental health nurses with an interest in the mental health care and treatment of older adults with both functional and organic mental health symptoms. The post holders will work within the Care Home and Community Hospital Assessment Team (CHAT). The post’s require good skills in organisation, initiative and ability to work as a lone worker while driving considerable distances across areas of the Scottish Borders.
DetailsPermanent, 37 hours per week. Monday to Friday 9-5pm. Offices at Borders General and Kelso Hospitals. As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
Responsibilities- Work within the Care Home and Community Hospital Assessment Team (CHAT).
- Travel across areas of the Scottish Borders driving considerable distances.
- Be a lone worker with good organisational and initiative skills.
- May involve working with older adults with functional and organic mental health symptoms.
- Qualified mental health nurse.
- Ability to work as a lone worker and manage travel requirements.

- Capacity to comply with pre-employment checks, PVG scheme where required, and UK right to work requirements.
