Job DescriptionThe Primary Health Care Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner [RN (NP)] reports directly to the Primary Health Care Manager. This position will also have reporting responsibilities to other managers in the Primary Health Care portfolio and/or to managers of facilities that they provide services in. Accountability will be maintained through a close working relationship with the Primary Health Care Leadership team.
The Primary Health Care RN (NP) works within the full scope of practice of a RN (NP) and promotes quality health care outcomes working within established standards of practice to ensure that clients receive a high standard of primary health care. As a member of an interdisciplinary, Primary Health Care Services team, the RN (NP) promotes and integrates the goals and principles of primary health care into daily work.
This will be done in accordance with the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s mission statement, philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures, and standards of the RN (NP) professional association. The incumbent is responsible and accountable at all times for their personal practice.
- Two (2) years advanced RN (NP) in applicable area
- Three (3) years nursing experience
- Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Registered/eligible for registration with the CRNS as an RN (NP) or RN (GNP)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support Level C Certificate (BCLS)
- Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Specialization
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)
- Critical thinking skills
- Organizational skills
- Knowledge in diverse cultures, values and traditions
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- This care will be provided to individuals, groups, families and the community.
- Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
- Demonstrates ability to implement coordinated, comprehensive care.
- Ability to develop and deliver formal education programs
