Project Engineer III, VAST Umbilical

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a small, hard-working, and accomplished team of doers you will advance the design, development, and operations of Ground and Vehicle Umbilical Systems at Blue Origin. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. This role is a part of VAST Umbilical team that has proven track record of developing, delivering, refurbishing and relaunching complex Umbilical Systems on New Glenn launch system.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead end-to-end project execution, from requirements definition and planning through delivery
• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and resource plans
• Coordinate across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, test, and launch operations teams
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, schedule, and programmatic risks
• Facilitate design reviews and program status meetings
• Manage supplier and vendor deliverables, working with Supply Chain on contracts and performance
• Communicate project status, risks, and decisions clearly to senior leadership and stakeholders
• Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and disciplined execution

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of technical project engineering or program management experience
• Experience managing complex, cross-functional technical projects
• Proficiency with scheduling and planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, Jira)
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and risk management
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Adaptable to fast-paced, ambiguous environment
• Ability to manage vast number of stakeholders across the organization
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related technical field
• Experience in aerospace, construction, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated industries
• Working knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with hardware development, manufacturing, or test campaigns
• PMP Certified preferred
