Single Point of Access – Children’s Emotional Wellbeing Co‑ordinator

Closing date: 07 January 2026

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join a new cross‑sector initiative focused on improving outcomes for children and young people. The Wellbeing Coordinator will play a central role in bringing partners together across organisational boundaries to support the emotional well‑being needs of the children and young people, particularly those with complex circumstances.

We have three Wellbeing Coordinator positions available, with one post based in each of the local authority locality teams:
Merthyr, Bridgend, and Rhondda Cynon Taf. A professional registration is not required for this position.

The successful applicant will facilitate a multi‑agency wellbeing panel that brings together professionals from health, education, local authority and other key services. They will promote integrated, collaborative working and maintain strong relationships across the services to reduce inequalities and strengthen pathways for children and young people with more complex needs.

This new role will ensure high‑quality information sharing, decision making and follow‑up actions to champion the child‑centred approach that improves experiences and outcomes for children, young people and families in our community.

Main duties of the job

The single point of access for children’s emotional wellbeing (SPACE‑Wellbeing) is a process for children and young people with mental health and emotional wellbeing concerns, where a multi‑disciplinary team will make decisions on provision for children, young people and their families to access the right support, first time, from the right person.

The co‑ordinator will provide a proactive, comprehensive administrative and clerical support function to the locality‑based multi‑disciplinary/agency team.

Working within one of the three Local Authority areas of Cwm Taf Morgannwg (RCT, Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil), the SPACE‑Wellbeing co‑ordinator will be a pivotal and central role in ensuring effective integrated working in their locality area.

They will often be the first point of contact for referrers, other professionals, families/carers and other members of the child/young person’s network and will elicit further information about the family’s needs and what is important to them where referral information is limited.

Welsh skills desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable at Level 3 Speaking/Listening (or ‘B1’ Level if you have learnt Welsh as an adult). This does not mean you have to be fluent or able to write long reports in Welsh; it just means being able to hold simple conversations with patients. Have a look at the ‘Croeso Candidate!’ guide attached below for more information.
