A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Main Outpatients department at Prince Charles Hospital. Main Outpatients facilitates a wide range of Consultant, Nurse‑lead clinics and visiting specialities. The successful candidate must have an interest in outpatient nursing, work well independently and as part of a team, embrace the core values of the health board and be willing to learn and improve services for patients.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh desirable. It does not require fluency; speaking and listening skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above are considered an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates.
Main Duties- Facilitate clinics independently and as part of a team.
- Manage the outpatient area in the absence of the Department Manager.
- Plan workload for staff and supervise junior staff and student nurses on placement.
- Carry out wound care and minor surgical work alongside the consultant in dermatology.
- Perform clinical procedures such as bladder scanning and record visual acuity.
- Support departmental learning and development initiatives and participate in PADR and revalidation.
- Maintain flexibility over the 5‑day working week to meet the needs of the service.

Essential:
- NMC registered General Nurse
- Evidence of continuous professional development / revalidation
- Ability to demonstrate responsibilities under the NMC code of conduct
Desirable:
- Outpatient experience
- Welsh language speaking/l listening skills at Level B2/3 or above
Experience:
- Registered Nurse experience
- Experience working in a ward environment
Desirable experience:
- Experience as a student mentor
- Experience taking charge of a ward
Clinical
Experience:
- Wound management
- Phlebotomy (desirable)
- Bladder scans (desirable)
- Scrub nurse in minor surgery (desirable)
