A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Main Outpatients department at Prince Charles Hospital. Main Outpatients facilitates a wide range of Consultant, Nurse‑lead clinics and visiting specialities. The successful candidate must have an interest in outpatient nursing, work well independently and as part of a team, embrace the core values of the health board and be willing to learn and improve services for patients.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh desirable. It does not require fluency; speaking and listening skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above are considered an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates.

• Facilitate clinics independently and as part of a team.
• Manage the outpatient area in the absence of the Department Manager.
• Plan workload for staff and supervise junior staff and student nurses on placement.
• Carry out wound care and minor surgical work alongside the consultant in dermatology.
• Perform clinical procedures such as bladder scanning and record visual acuity.
• Support departmental learning and development initiatives and participate in PADR and revalidation.
• Maintain flexibility over the 5‑day working week to meet the needs of the service.

Essential:

• NMC registered General Nurse
• Evidence of continuous professional development / revalidation
• Ability to demonstrate responsibilities under the NMC code of conduct

Desirable:

• Outpatient experience
• Welsh language speaking/l listening skills at Level B2/3 or above

Experience:

• Registered Nurse experience
• Experience working in a ward environment

Desirable experience:

• Experience as a student mentor
• Experience taking charge of a ward

Clinical

Experience:

• Wound management
• Phlebotomy (desirable)
• Bladder scans (desirable)
• Scrub nurse in minor surgery (desirable)
