Job SummaryThe post holder will be an experienced practitioner in endoscopy/gastroenterology nursing, possessing specialist knowledge and skill related to their area of work. The role involves management of patient care with emphasis on safety, communication and education in health promotion during their stay in the endoscopy unit. The post holder uses skills, knowledge and experience to promote a holistic, evidence‑based approach to patient care and will assist the unit manager in implementing specialist policies and procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and organisational values of CTMUHB.
The post holder will also lead the service in pre‑assessment and outreach for endoscopy and ERCP.
- Support the Unit Manager in day‑to‑day running of the unit, maintaining a high standard of clinical monitoring, education and specialist advice for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.
- Deputise in the absence of the Unit Manager and promote effective team working, utilising managerial, supervisory and supportive skills for smooth operation.
- Lead pre‑assessment and outreach for endoscopy and ERCP.
- Excellent knowledge of gastroenterology nursing and caring for this group of patients.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent standard of record keeping in line with the NMC Standards of Record Keeping Document.
- Working knowledge of gastroenterology nursing experience.
- Significant experience as a senior Band 5 nurse with at least sufficient experience working in an endoscopy unit.
- To have worked recently within an acute setting (desirable).
- 1st level Registered Nurse (essential).
- To have worked within the acute medical/surgical setting (desirable).
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check – post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

- UK Registration – applicants must have current UK professional registration.
Band: 6 – £39,263 to £47,280 a year per annum (Agenda for Change).
