Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to manage the financial lifecycle of construction projects. This role is heavily focused on progress billings, job cost tracking, project budgeting, cost forecasting, and over/under billing (ODP) reconciliations.
The ideal candidate has strong construction accounting experience, understands WIP reporting, and can partner closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate financial performance tracking and cash flow management.Who We AreVMG Construction Inc., established 2007 in Winter Garden, has built a solid reputation as a premier commercial construction subcontractor serving the State of Florida. - Prepare and submit monthly progress billings (AIA and non-AIA)
- Process and track change orders for accurate billing
- Maintain billing schedules and ensure timely invoicing
- Ensure compliance with contract billing requirements
- Set up new projects in accounting system with accurate contract values and budgets
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance
- Identify cost overruns and communicate variances to Project Managers
- Review committed costs (subcontracts, POs, change orders)
- Provide monthly financial summaries of project performance
- Monitor project AR aging
- Assist with collection efforts in coordination with PMs
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related required
- 5+ years of construction/project accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of:
- Progress billing (AIA)
- Job cost accounting
- WIP reporting
- Experience with construction accounting software (Sage Intacct, Viewpoint, Quick Books Enterprise, etc.)
- Proficient Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proactive and deadline-driven
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment
- Confident communicating financial data to non-accounting team members
- Process-oriented and highly accurate
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
