The Department of Economics invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track position in development economics beginning fall 2027. We seek a candidate with a regional specialization. An interest in Latin America and/or the ability to teach in a language of the candidate's region are preferred.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a PhD in economics, or expect to complete it by the start of the appointment, and should show evidence of a commitment to excellent teaching and of scholarly promise; advanced assistant professors are also welcome to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to teach electives and a senior seminar in development economics, intermediate microeconomic theory, and econometrics, and to contribute to the International Politics and Economics program, including supervising senior theses.

As part of a full teaching load, the candidate will also regularly contribute to Middlebury's First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings. All faculty at Middlebury are also expected to contribute to service to the College including, but not limited to, committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked.
