Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview
JDL Recruitment is seeking a  Senior Mechanical Engineer – Development  for a leading global data center developer. The role leads the  design, coordination, and delivery  of mechanical systems across large-scale hyperscale developments in Europe, ensuring high performance, efficiency, and reliability throughout the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design for HVAC, chilled water systems, cooling towers, AHUs, and fire suppression.
Review engineering specifications, calculations, BIM models, and CFD analysis.
Optimise thermal performance, airflow, and system redundancy for high-density workloads.
Manage mechanical scopes from early development through construction and commissioning.
Ensure compliance with EU codes, ASHRAE standards, ISO requirements, and sustainability targets.
Collaborate with electrical, structural, and tenant engineering teams to integrate mechanical solutions.
Oversee contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
Integrate innovative technologies such as liquid cooling, modular solutions, and smart monitoring.

Requirements

8+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering for data centers or mission-critical/industrial facilities.
Expertise in HVAC, cooling infrastructure, fire suppression, thermodynamics, and mechanical modelling.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, CFD tools (ANSYS/OpenFOAM), and energy modelling software.
Knowledge of ASHRAE, EN, ISO standards, and European building regulations.
Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Mechanical Engineering; relevant certifications (LEED, ASHRAE, CIBSE) preferred.
