Project Architect​/Architectural Technician​/Building Surveyor

Position: Project Architect/ Architectural Technician/ Building Surveyor

Morson is currently recruiting for an experienced Project Architect or Senior Project Architect to join an established and growing team delivering a diverse portfolio of building and refurbishment projects within the public sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and motivated architectural professional to take ownership of multiple projects, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment and contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality built environment solutions.

The successful candidate will bring strong project leadership skills, sound technical knowledge and the ability to manage projects from initial design and feasibility through to procurement and on-site delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage multiple building projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.

Develop project designs and prepare detailed technical and construction information.

Undertake feasibility studies, design development and preparation of planning and tender documentation.

Manage planning applications and coordinate with relevant consultants and stakeholders.

Provide technical input and support throughout all project stages.

Manage contractor relationships, procurement activities and contract administration.

Undertake site visits, monitor progress and support effective project and contract management.

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to projects led by other team members where required.

Ensure projects comply with relevant building regulations, statutory requirements and industry standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience working as a Project Architect, Architect, Building Surveyor or Senior Architect/Surveyor.

Demonstrable experience managing building projects from inception through to completion.

Strong project management and leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage several projects concurrently.

Excellent technical design and drawing skills, with the ability to produce planning and tender documentation independently.

Proficiency in AutoCAD.

Experience in contract administration, site management and contractor coordination.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

A flexible, proactive and adaptable approach to project delivery.

Desirable Experience

Experience working on education, schools or SEND-related building projects.

Knowledge of inclusive design and the delivery of specialist educational facilities.

Experience with traditional procurement routes and JCT forms of contract.

Experience working within local authority or wider public sector environments.

Knowledge of planning processes and associated statutory requirements.

Working Arrangements

The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with some regular attendance required at client offices in Winchester to support collaboration with the wider project team.

This is an initial contract opportunity, offering the potential for a longer-term engagement depending on project requirements.
