Senior Development Control Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Highways Engineer to join a Council in the Home Counties in delivering high-quality highway and transport infrastructure projects.

• Develop technical solutions, manage design and construction stages, and ensure projects meet statutory requirements, Council standards, and safety regulations.
• Review and approve designs under Sections 38 and 278.
• Coordinate across engineering disciplines, ensuring seamless project delivery.
• Oversee consultants and junior staff, providing guidance and supervision.
• Ensure compliance with DMRB, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, and other relevant standards.
• Liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
• Monitor project performance, risks, and compliance throughout delivery.

• Proven experience in UK highway design and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of relevant design standards and highway adoption processes.
• Experience with surface water drainage and SuDS principles.
• Ability to lead projects, supervise staff, and manage multiple work streams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• You must have experience to be considered for this position.
