About the roleAs a Senior Credit Controller you will take ownership of an assigned portfolio of client ledgers ensuring prompt collections, accurate reconciliations and timely query resolution. Your work will directly support the company’s cash flow, minimise bad debt and contribute to the overall efficiency of the Finance team. This role requires both technical accuracy and a customer‑focused approach, striking the balance between protecting BSI’s interests and providing outstanding service.
Responsibilities- Manage and monitor collections across your assigned portfolio of client ledgers.
- Reconcile ledgers and resolve client queries efficiently, ensuring issues are closed promptly.
- Work to agreed individual and team KPIs to maintain strong cash flow and reduce debt exposure.
- Collaborate with colleagues across BSI to ensure services are not provided to bad debt clients.
- Escalate non‑paying clients where appropriate, ensuring procedures are consistently followed.
- Support the credit check process handling related queries and managing client credit card payments.
- Prepare paperwork for sales ledger refunds and maintain compliance with finance policies.
- Respond to day‑to‑day client correspondence, delivering excellent customer service at all times.
- Provide support to the wider Finance team as required.
- Previous experience in a collections or credit control role.
- Strong Excel and MS Office skills (intermediate level).
- A good understanding of workplace computer systems with the ability to learn SAP quickly.
- GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent); AAT or CICM qualifications are desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in business English (other languages an advantage).
- A proactive, flexible and team‑oriented approach with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
