NPI Manufacturing Engineer
AAGL is seeking a supplier‑based NPI Manufacturing Engineer to work on‑site at a supplier facility in Western Ukraine (Mukachevo area anticipated). Local accommodation will be provided.
Candidate must be fluent in Ukrainian for working with the supplier and shop‑floor personnel, and English for reporting and customer interaction.
The program involves supporting the establishment of a production capacity for machining of customer furnished forgings.
Primary FocusMachining process deployment & manufacturing capability establishment.
Role PurposeTo establish, commission, and stabilise machining capability at the customer supplier site for customer‑furnished forged components, ensuring new equipment, tooling and processes are fully deployed and capable of supporting NPI production.
Primary Activities- Support commissioning and deployment of newly installed machining equipment supporting forged components
- Validate machining processes, tooling, fixtures, cutting strategies and machine programmes
- Verify routings, set‑ups and work instructions for machining of customer‑supplied forgings
- Support shop floor layout and optimisation of machining processes
- Ensure forging handover requirements (condition, traceability, material state) are correctly managed at receipt
- Identify manufacturing risks affecting dimensional integrity, surface finish or material condition post‑machining
- Oversee operator training and ensure machining processes are repeatable and controlled
- Interface with supplier engineering, production and maintenance teams to resolve manufacturing issues
- Provide regular readiness and risk reporting to customer stakeholders
- Support formal handover into Phase II activities
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in aerospace, defence or heavy engineering manufacturing environments
- Strong hands‑on experience with machining of forged components
- Proven background in equipment commissioning, CNC machining process set‑up and industrialisation
- Strong understanding of machining risks associated with forged materials (distortion, residual stress, surface integrity)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, routings and technical documentation
- Fluent in both Ukrainian and English highly desirable
- Defence manufacturing experience highly desirable
- Willingness to travel to the UK for program orientation
