Beyond Bird, this impact is felt in the fundamental aspects of our everyday lives. From the critical infrastructure we depend on, to the energy and resources that keep us moving - we are powering our communities and shaping Canada’s skylines coast-to-coast.

Entrenched in the foundation of a culture built more than a century ago is an enduring quest to reimagine what is possible. Our impact is greater than ever, and we are looking for those who seek to redefine their story.

We are a dynamic team of over 5,000 with a range of professions, backgrounds, and areas of expertise. This breadth of diversity in people and opportunities is one of greatest aspects of building your career with Bird. Every trajectory looks different. At Bird, you hold the pen, and you write your story. As you unlock your potential, you are surrounded by a team that supports you every step of the way.

Be a part of our team, where we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and the way we treat each other and our partners. You will build a career and long-lasting relationships based on respect, collaboration, and a solution-focused mindset. Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.

As a Planner/Scheduler, you will assist in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of project schedules for a large transit project.

Supporting the Planning Manager, you will collaborate closely with project teams—including estimating, design, engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractors—to ensure schedules are realistic, achievable, and aligned with the contract and company requirements.

This role will be based in Toronto.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Implement standard scheduling practices including WBS structure, activity coding, naming conventions, and calendar settings.
  • Ensure schedule durations and logic are validated by internal production databases, Superintendents, and subtrades.
  • Update project schedules weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, incorporating as-built dates, short-term forecasting, and delay impacts.
  • Generate “look-ahead” schedules to support field operations and identify near-term issues.
  • Assist in the tracking and documenting schedule impacts due to changes, delays, or unforeseen conditions. Identify, document, and analyze delays, performing Time Impact Analyses (TIA) as needed.
  • Analyze project performance using earned value, float trends, KPIs, and schedule variance metrics.
  • Create as-built vs. as-planned comparisons to support lessons learned and claims analysis.
  • Support 4D/5D schedule integration with 3D models and cost tracking for sequencing and cash flow reporting.
  • Analyze contractor and subcontractor schedules for realism, compliance, and integration into the master project schedule.
  • Track and analyze labor, equipment, and material usage and productivity.
  • Evaluate and forecast resource loading, availability, and demand across the project lifecycle.
  • What We Are Looking For

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in planning/scheduling within the construction industry.
  • Solid experience with Primavera P6.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, critical path method (CPM), and project lifecycle stages.
  • Previous experience in a Project Coordinator role would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to support in managing multiple schedules and prioritize under tight deadlines.
  • Effective in problem-solving, scenario planning, and performance analysis.
  • We Put Safety First

A healthy and safe work environment is non-negotiable. We build a culture of operational and psychological safety through engagement, learning and leadership.
