About the role
We're currently looking for a Commercial Lines Underwriter , to join the Nordic team! This role is open to both intermediate and senior underwriters, with the level being determined based on the experience of the successful applicant.
Your work will have a big impact on the success of our department. People will count on you deliver results which support service objectives while contributing to outcomes in compliance with Facility Association rules and rates.
This permanent position is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 2 days per week working in our Mississauga, ON or Dartmouth, NS office.
What you'll do here:
Provide guidance to brokers as they quote and bind a wide range of risks which cannot be placed in the voluntary market.
Underwrite and rate New Business, Endorsements, Renewals, and Cancellations in accordance with Facility Association rules.
Collaborate with claims partners to support after-loss underwriting.
Effectively manage competing priorities, delivering consistent productivity in a service-driven environment.
Clearly and effectively communicate business requirements, dependencies, and outcomes.
Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency.
Analyze trends and provide feedback to strengthen business objectives.
Maintain a thorough understanding of all relevant CL underwriting guides and best practices.
Support a team-driven environment, contributing technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to colleagues.
What you bring to the table:
3+ years of prior underwriting experience required
Prior experience working with IRCA, Public, Fleets and Garage insurance policies preferred
Candidates with previous knowledge of or exposure to Facility Association is an asset and will be prioritized
Completion of or working towards the CIP designation is an asset
Skilled communicator who can adapt your approach for your audience
Enthusiastic and curious learner who works well in a team environment and independently
Demonstrated ability to analyse and assess complex risks
Takes initiative and able to work effectively under pressure
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
