Location: MontrealJob Summary The Intern, Public Affairs and Media Relations works closely with the public affairs and media relations team to support the organization's public relations activities.
This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in public affairs and media relations within a dynamic organization.
Major Responsibilities
Monitor traditional media, social media, and other platforms to identify trends, relevant articles and mentions of the organization as well as compile and analyze media monitoring reportsParticipate in the writing, editing and distribution of press releases and briefings to promote the organization's initiativesContribute to the management of the organization's social media accounts, creating and scheduling engaging content, monitoring comments, and ensuring a positive online presenceAssist in the planning and coordination of public events, such as press conferences, product launches, forums, and public relations activitiesConduct research on industry trends, public policy, and related issues as well as contribute to media environment and stakeholder analysesTrack and database management of relationships with the media, including journalists, bloggers and influencers as well as help facilitate interview and feature requestsParticipate in lobbying activities by providing administrative support, preparing briefing documents and helping to coordinate meetings with decision-makersMonitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments and help inform the public affairs team on potential implicationsRequirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills (bilingualism is an asset)Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a teamKnowledge of traditional and social mediaInterest in public affairs and media relations issuesProficiency in office automation tools and social media platformsEducation
Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Affairs, International Relations, or related field.
