Overview

WB Central Games Technologies (CGT) and WB Games Montréal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), are seeking a Senior Programmer, Rendering with extensive rendering and platform optimization experience to join our team working on unannounced AAA console titles.

As a member of the central programming team, you will collaborate with designers, artists, and technology leads at several WB Games studios to develop immersive gameplay experiences with industry-leading visuals. You will support a team building the vision for future games and work with projects in development, including titles at Avalanche Software and Nether Realm.

Your Role

In this role, you will work as part of a programming team to develop, maintain and optimize systems and tools related to game rendering and platform-specific features. You will coordinate with and support other departments to ensure continuous debugging of issues. You will prioritize tasks and work with production and technical leadership to meet deadlines. You will help solve problems that impact your team and projects and ensure technical documentation is complete and up to date.

Your responsibilities include the design, authoring, maintenance and refactoring of visual and effects systems. You should have a strong focus on innovation and leverage a deep technical background. You will contribute to the roadmap, architecture, and delivery of software applications. You will collaborate with game teams to gain buy-in and enhance solutions, and work with QA and technical leadership to ensure stability and accuracy of code by identifying, communicating and resolving defects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop code with a rendering programming team to support new systems, features, tools, and latest technologies, while maintaining a stable code base.
  • Work closely with management, department leadership and production to meet programming timelines and objectives.
  • Shape the team culture by supporting leadership, promoting best practices, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Implement, optimize, and maintain rendering features with artists and researchers/managers.
  • Optimize systems for platforms, focusing on GPU, CPU and memory usage for high-end and low-end PCs.
  • Collaborate with content creators to improve workflows.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience in the gaming industry, in a rendering role.
  • Participation in the production of at least 2 AAA game titles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of real-time rendering topics (lighting, shading, global illumination, post-processing, etc.).
  • Experience with graphics APIs (Direct

    X 11/12, consoles) and graphical functions.
  • Experience applying coding best practices and memory management, multi-threading, and cross-platform development.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4/5 is a plus.
  • Good organizational and writing skills; ability to collaborate with interdepartmental teams.
  • Understanding of system optimization and debugging skills; problem solving and self-motivation.
  • Publications on rendering or effects techniques (ACM SIGGRAPH, GDC, IEEE) are a plus.
