Location & Travel
Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Montreal, Canada office. This role will require 10% travel; varies based on peaks and valleys of the project.

Responsibilities

Act as a Senior Staff Software Engineer in a software architect capacity, for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.

Take part in the development of embedded airborne software per DO‑178C and its supplements with the full life cycle processes and activities.

Help support problem‑solving activities throughout the development of software and integration within avionics systems and other systems.

Work closely with Software Engineers from multiple Integrated Product Teams, Systems Engineers, suppliers, contractors, and Software Certification teams.

Plan and execute mentorship programs with junior Software Engineers.

Qualifications

BS or MS in Computer Science, Electronics, or relevant engineering discipline. Typically a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 8 years of experience with a Master's degree, or 5 years of experience with a PhD’s degree.

Worked on various aerospace projects governed by DO‑178C and its supplements to define software architecture.

Strong foundation in software and hardware, with deep understanding of computer architecture, including microcontrollers, FPGA, memory management and peripherals.

Familiarity with RTOS concepts such as scheduling, synchronization and memory management; applied understanding of RTOS (Deos, safe

RTOS, VxWorks, etc.) and/or bare metal design.

Knowledge of bootloaders, interrupt handling and communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, CAN, RS485, Arinc
429, Ethernet.

Ability to think from a system level perspective and understand the relationship between software and hardware.

Highly motivated, self‑starting individual with strong communication skills and a positive team player.
