Metal Hardware Technical Developer

Join to apply for the Metal Hardware Technical Developer role  this role, you will oversee the development of new metal hardware for leather goods as an area of excellence for Burberry. You will manage new development projects with suppliers to ensure that metal hardware meets style, quality, cost, and delivery requirements. You will also be responsible for the continuous improvement of metal hardware development procedures and support suppliers in material and process innovation.
Responsibilities

Provide technical support to design and product development teams: understand creative needs, analyse and interpret metal hardware design, provide technical support, identify critical development issues and propose solutions.
Manage the development phase to define requirements, propose existing and innovative solutions, ensure the feasibility and quality of new metal hardware and anticipate the industrialisation timetable from the beginning.
Manage technical development in partnership with suppliers: formalise requirements, analyse technical risks of projects and propose measures to mitigate these risks.
Establish a strong and collaborative relationship with suppliers to keep up to date and meet material development targets by monitoring supplier performance.
Negotiate metal hardware costs using technical specifications.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, government regulations, restrictions, safety protocols and performance standards relating to metal hardware.

Qualifications

Proven experience in metal hardware development or a similar role.
Degree in Materials Technology, Engineering or another relevant field.
Good knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhinoceros and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong knowledge of metal hardware design and manufacturing.
Fluency in Italian and English is essential.
Proven track record of delivering results through project management and working with cross‑functional teams.
Previous experience with high fashion or luxury brands is a plus.
