Senior Software Engineer  at  Hitachi Rail

Firenze, Italy (Hybrid)

Job Objective  We’re looking for a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in cloud-native development and complex software architectures. With at least 5 years in the field, you will contribute to the development of next-generation supervision, monitoring, and control systems in a fast-paced, international environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain modern software solutions for mission-critical applications.

Lead the development of cloud-based and on-premise software architectures.

Translate system and business requirements into functional and technical specifications.

Develop robust microservices and containerized applications using Dev Ops principles.

Debug, optimize, and maintain both legacy and new codebases.

Collaborate with testing and support teams to resolve complex system issues.

Ensure consistent and well-documented code and architecture.

Create and deliver technical presentations to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.

Evaluate tools, frameworks, and best practices for continuous improvement and cost efficiency.

Skills and Experiences

Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical discipline.

Experience in supervision/monitoring system development.

Programming languages:
Java, C#.

Frameworks: JPA, Spring Boot.

Architecture:
Microservices, modular and multithreaded application development.

Web technologies:
JavaScript, Type Script, Stencil, React.

Databases:
MySQL, Postgre

SQL.

Source control:
Git.

Experience in deploying applications to the cloud.

Hands‑on with Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, Docker.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Azure Dev Ops, etc.

Experience in system/software architecture design.

Networking fundamentals and knowledge of Linux-based systems.

Certifications in Agile, cloud platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, AWS, Azure), or Dev Ops tools are a plus.

Fluency in Italian and English.
