ROLE OF THE JOB
We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated individual looking to develop their career as a Highway Asset Management Technician. You will play a key role in supporting the management, maintenance and development of the county's highway assets, ensuring safe and efficient travel for all.

Responsibilities- Assist in the collection, analysis, and reporting of highway asset data using GIS and asset management systems.
- Support the development and implementation of asset management strategies and lifecycle plans.
- Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess asset condition and performance.
- Liaise with contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams to coordinate maintenance and improvement works.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance monitoring and reporting.
Highways and Transport is responsible for the provision of three key functions across Northumberland. We manage, maintain and improve the highway and transport network, to make sure that everyone can travel safely on our roads, footways and cycleways throughout the year. Alongside this we carry out the network management function to effectively coordinate works on the highway network to minimise disruption to residents and the travelling public.
We also provide the Lead Local Flood Authority and Coastal Protection Authority roles.
- BTEC National Certificate or equivalent standard of general education, equivalent to level 3 in the National Qualification Framework in Civil Engineering, or other relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of Highway Asset Management techniques and/or highway construction processes.
- Ability to follow processes, work under pressure to meet deadlines and prioritise own workload.
- Must hold a full British or EC driving licence.
The job is based in County Hall, Morpeth but you may be required to travel around the county.
