Managing Director

Barnes Aerospace has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for an experienced P&L Leader to lead and grow our Newton Abbot OEM and Motherwell OEM operations. We’re seeking a strong multi-site Managing Director to play an integral role in directing and executing the business goals and objectives for achieving profitable, sustainable growth for our aerospace portfolio and adjacent growth areas. Leveraging our business processes and cultivating a high-performance culture through employee engagement, empowerment and followership, the Managing Director‑UK will lead and ensure the successful implementation of key business initiatives to meet and exceed customer expectations by driving commercial excellence and delivering consistent operational performance through core business execution.

Must have a proven track record of driving performance and results in alignment with company strategy and values and prior experience in leading and managing manufacturing and repair/overhaul across multiple sites and value streams.

• The Managing Director- UK will have full P&L responsibility for the Newton Abbot OEM site and the Motherwell OEM site providing advanced technological solutions to both Aerospace & Defense customers.
• Provide leadership and direction to the organization with $80M sales and ~400 employees to achieve performance and financial objectives as defined and aligned on through the Company’s annual profit planning process. In addition to the site general managers, his/her regional functional reports and support will include leaders in Commercial Sales/Business Development, HSE, HR and Finance.
• Ensure the effective development and execution of the profitable growth strategy culminating in increasing organic revenue growth through developing new customers and expanding product offerings, while maintaining the highest standards of customer satisfaction, performance excellence and achieving increased profitability and margin expansion.
• Leveraging their commercial background, develops and cultivates strong customer relationships to achieve profitable top‑line revenue and market share growth through the effective management and execution of OEM, MRO/CRO services, solutions, and increased process capabilities. Seeks to expand product offerings with existing customers, helps to develop new customers and expand the site’s presence as a strategic supplier. Effectively collaborates and coordinates resolution of material constraints through effective customer communications, bids and proposals and negotiations.
• Champions the application, development and maturity of core business processes such as SIOP, Lean/Six Sigma, Automation and Smart Factory initiatives to maximize operational efficiencies and equipment effectiveness.
• Leads the organization to consistently perform, differentiate and grow by developing capabilities in people and processes to enhance and improve productivity and performance of the manufacturing operations with systematic transformation aligned with our Value Creation strategy deployment.
• Organizes the business to execute and deliver results using Management Operating Systems and key KPI’s that enables OEM value stream processes across the site operations. Fully uses the operating system to manage and facilitate budget planning, capacity planning, labor efficiency, raw material supply, engineering effectiveness, customer service, along with resource planning and utilization.
• Empowers teams with a leadership/management style that is collaborative, inclusive, and balanced in approach to drive, achieve and sustain results.
