Overview

Health and Safety Engineer (Omani National)

Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and document workplace hazards, risks, and appropriate control measures for specific operations, activities, and processes.
  • Conduct continuous reviews of operational processes to proactively identify potential safety, health, and environmental risks, and recommend mitigation measures, including evaluation of associated implementation costs.
  • Ensure all hazard identification, risk assessments, and control measures are documented in accordance with approved HSE procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Establish, monitor, and supervise temporary work areas to ensure compliance with safety requirements and safe working conditions.
  • Supervise the safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor and oversee operations involving potential hazards to ensure all safety controls are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Enhance workplace safety and operational efficiency by supporting the transition from manual HSE processes to IT-based systems and digital safety management tools.
  • Plan and deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to employees and contractors as required.
  • Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies, legal requirements, and local regulatory standards related to health, safety, and environmental protection.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports; recommend corrective actions; and liaise with relevant authorities where required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), preferably within heavy machinery, construction, or industrial projects
    .
  • Possession of all mandatory certifications and qualifications as required by local laws, regulatory authorities, and government bodies.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of awareness and sensitivity toward potential physical hazards and unsafe behaviors.
  • Fluency in English and relevant local languages
    , with excellent communication and coordination skills to operate effectively within a matrix organizational structure.
  • High resilience and adaptability to manage complex situations in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
  • Strong drive for achievement, with a proven track record of delivering results and successfully implementing safety improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, with professional experience gained from reputable organizations within the industry.
