Job Overview:
The Highway Design Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and delivery of highway and roadway infrastructure projects. The role involves preparing detailed design and working drawings, supporting construction activities, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable highways standards.
- Develop detailed design and working drawings through projects stages.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, plans, specifications, reports, and quantity takeoff using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Design horizontal and vertical alignments, junctions and roundabouts, grading, drainage systems, pavement structures, culverts, retaining walls, and traffic safety elements.
- Support construction supervision activities, including responding to technical queries and reviewing contractor submissions.
- Coordinate with technical managers, civil and structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure the compliance with applicable highways standards.
- Supervise draftsmen to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project requirements.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in highway design and construction projects.
- Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure projects such as highways, expressways.
- Strong knowledge of highway design standards and best practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant engineering software.
