Overview
Assist Litigation Manager in rendering the required legal services to the business and broadly assume the following responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Providing assistance in drafting litigation documents, attending court to file litigation documents and represent the company as may be required from time to time
- Handling correspondences on legal aspects and recommending appropriate legal actions
- Accompany staff on field activities where disputes and conflicts occur to guide discussions and collate all pertinent information to be used for decisions and actions
- Support investigations and maintain active liaison with HR Unit
- Document legal activities and maintain an up-to-date legal actions and issues database for quick reference and guide to management and staff
- Evaluate claims brought against the company and managing the resolution to those claims
- Participate in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, leases and other legal instruments while working closely with the concerned departments, as may be required
- Assist in the selection and appraisal of external legal advisors
- Assume any other responsibility assigned to him by the Litigation Manager
The Legal Executive is expected to produce a monthly report showing:
- Progress made on outstanding matters from previous reports
- Targets for the month and achievement thereof
- Status of outstanding matters
- Targets for the following month
- Qualified to appear in front of the Primary Courts of the Sultanate of Oman
- Having up-to-date knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements and best practice standards related to joint stock companies
- Good drafting skills and communication (oral and written) skills in both Arabic and English with an eye for detail
- Good organizational skills with an ability to prioritize assignments
- An open and approachable style that encourages communications, cooperation, coordination and liaison at all levels, combined with assertiveness and decisiveness
- A high level of intelligence and business acumen combined with unquestioned personal and professional integrity
- IT literate
- Bachelor’s degree in law, preferably with a business qualification
- Minimum of two to three years of experience in a commercial environment and/or a legal practice with a focus on corporate commercial, and labor law and litigation
