Job Description

To meet our growth challenges, WSP is seeking an Intermediate Process Engineer to join our team in British Columbia.

As an Intermediate Process Engineer you will begin to plan and complete work without supervision, including checking calculations and aiding in the training of junior engineers. You will be part of our growing team, using your engineering skills to design facilities across Canada and globally. Be involved in projects with our Energy division and help meet client objectives.

What you can expect to do here
  • Conduct process simulations using appropriate software to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Determine the appropriate sizes for equipment based on process requirements, preparing detailed data sheets.
  • Perform calculations to determine the optimal size for process lines, considering flow rate, pressure drop, and temperature.
  • Prepare data sheets for instruments used in the process.
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) to represent the flow of materials through the process.
  • Markup Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to reflect changes in the process or equipment.
  • Conduct studies to understand and improve the process, analyzing data, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing solutions.
  • Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, identifying hazards and proposing mitigations.
  • Review vendor drawings to ensure they meet process requirements.
  • Take charge of smaller projects or specific client assignments; on larger projects support Area Lead with task completion.
What you’ll bring to WSP
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering.
  • Required minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry as a process engineer, ideally with gas processing plant experience.
  • P.Eng licensed.
  • Enjoy working in a team environment at an intermediate level to develop your skills.
  • Strong communication and report‑writing skills.
  • Organized and completes tasks with focus on quality, schedule, and budget.

Salary range (British Columbia): $82,900 – $114,000. The final salary may vary based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
