We are looking for an Indigenous Engagement and Knowledge Specialist who will lead some of our consultation and engagement activities in British Columbia working alongside our wider Environmental specialists. You must have the ability to travel throughout the province and nationally if applicable, and have Indigenous lived experience. This role is for British Columbia however you will work alongside colleagues nationally as part of our wider Indigenous Engagement group.
Our work includes delivering keystone projects throughout their lifecycle: from early assessment of constraints to strategic development of regulatory approvals processes, to compliance management through construction and operations. Our team works collaboratively within projects to gain social acceptance and manage our clients' commitments to the environment and sustainable development.
Your role within the team:
Developing and coordinating Indigenous, stakeholder, and regulatory engagement programs, including developing communication materials, planning workshops and open houses, maintaining stakeholder databases, responding to information requests, and reporting.Reviewing Indigenous Knowledge studies and incorporating information from these studies into environmental impact assessments.Supporting the assessment of project impacts on Indigenous and Treaty Rights and Interests, including consideration of Indigenous Use of Lands and Resources and Cultural Continuity.Developing and maintaining project/task schedules and budgets for engagement, and monitoring project progress, work hours, budgets, and expenditures.Supporting business development efforts, including potential client/prospect identification, proposal writing and client-facing activities.Ensure consultation and engagement with Indigenous Peoples is carried out in a culturally relevant way, while observing local protocols.Participating in industry events through presentations at conferences and/or through membership in industry organizations.Why choose

Indigenous Traditional Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous worldview.Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Biology, Social Science or similar.10+ years relevant experience working on Environmental programs with First Nations and Indigenous communities, Environmental/Impact Assessments (EA/IA).Lived experience is a strong asset.Understanding of provincial, federal, and territorial EA/IA processes. Experience in Environmental Permitting is an asset.Understanding and awareness of Indigenous laws with a focus on Indigenous Knowledge systems.Understanding of trauma informed approaches.Experience facilitating culturally relevant workshops and open houses for Indigenous participants.Experience delivering cultural awareness training for internal staff.Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language, and French language skills are considered an asset.Ability to plan and prioritize workload to manage multiple assignments at one time.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Willing to travel.Must possess a valid driver’s license.OCAP (Ownership, Control, Access, Possession) certification/knowledge is an asset.Compensat…
