We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant who wants more than a traditional preparer role. This is a hands on position for someone who enjoys preparing tax returns, working directly with clients, solving problems, and managing engagements from start to finish.

Candidates with Big 4, national, regional, or strong local public accounting experience who are looking for greater ownership are especially encouraged to apply.

The Opportunity

You will work directly with business owners and individual clients across tax, accounting, and advisory matters.

Your work will include tax return preparation, tax planning, and general business advisory.

We are looking for someone who wants to understand and manage the entire client relationship, not just one part of the engagement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Forms 1040, 1120-S, 1120, 1065, and 1041.
• Handle individual and closely held business tax matters.
• Perform year-round tax planning and projections.
• Advise clients on estimated taxes, extensions, and New York State PTET.
• Review Quick Books files, financial statements, trial balances, and adjusting entries.
• Assist with bookkeeping, payroll, and sales tax matters.
• Research federal, state, and local tax issues.
• Respond to IRS and state notices.
• Manage engagements from information gathering through final delivery and e-filing.
• Communicate directly with clients and resolve open items.
• Work closely with partners on complex tax matters and client relationships.
• Identify tax planning and advisory opportunities.
• Help improve processes through technology, automation, and AI.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 3+ years of public accounting experience
• Experience preparing Forms 1040, 1120-S, 1120, and 1065.
• Form 1041 experience is a plus.
• Experience with tax planning, projections, PTET, and multi-state compliance.
• Working knowledge of Quick Books Desktop and/or Quick Books Online.
• Understanding of bookkeeping, trial balances, and adjusting entries.
• Experience with payroll and sales tax matters.
• Strong client communication and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to manage engagements independently from start to finish.
• Strong organizational and deadline-management skills.

• Base salary of $90-120k+, depending on experience.
