Robot Operator

AMI is building frontier world model-based AI systems that understand the real world, have persistent memory, and can reason and plan. This Robot Operator role involves operating and teleoperating robotic systems for algorithm evaluation, data collection, and annotation to advance AI research.

• Arrange objects and scenes in exact, specified configurations for comparable test runs and launch algorithms on robots following written instructions
• Teleoperate robots through tasks such as picking, placing, sorting, stacking, opening containers, and tool use using leader-follower arms, VR, motion-tracking rigs, or gamepad interfaces
• Record outcomes, timings, and anomalies accurately; reset scenes and repeat across many trials and variations to meet daily data volume targets
• Review recorded episodes, mark success/failure/invalid status, label task phases and failure reasons using annotation tools, and write clear operator notes for researchers
• Start up, calibrate, inspect, reset and shut down robots, cameras and operator stations; spot unusual behavior or hardware faults, stop work when unsafe, and report problems clearly

• Strong hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity and spatial awareness with ability to learn new physical control systems quickly
• Meticulous attention to detail, ability to follow written instructions exactly, and comfort with repetitive, precision-focused work while maintaining consistent quality over full shifts
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially when describing issues or failures
• Basic computer skills including running programs from instructions, using spreadsheets, video review and data-entry tools
• Sound safety judgment and reliability with willingness to stop robots when something appears unsafe; punctuality for scheduled shifts

• Hands-on experience with robot arms, mobile robots or automation equipment
• Basic hardware troubleshooting skills with cables, cameras, networking, and power systems
• Background in lab, manufacturing, assembly, fulfillment or quality-control work
• Gaming, VR/AR, simulation, motion capture or other controller-based experience
• Data annotation, AI training operations or structured video review experience
• Comfort with Linux terminal, basic Python, or running scripts
• Interest in AI and robotics research
