Job Summary

Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to join an established team of highly specialised diabetes nurses in our Mid-Nottinghamshire team.

Our diabetes nurses work with primary care colleagues to provide the highest quality proactive care to our patients in Mid-Nottinghamshire, working as part of the Diabetes LES (Local Enhanced Service) in Nottinghamshire.

Work as part of a system to provide the best care possible as part of this innovative primary‑care facing enhanced service, with training and development at the heart of its delivery.

Main Duties

Predominantly clinic‑based role, primarily facing primary care, working with GPs and Practice Nurses to provide the highest possible care to patients.

Part of the wider local integrated team, which is neighbourhood‑focused.

Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced). This cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service Breed.
• An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Physical Requirements (Essential)
  • Has the physical ability to perform the full range of nursing duties.
Qualifications (Essential)
  • First level nurse qualification & registration; independent nurse prescriber (or willingness to undertake).
  • Recognised teaching qualifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of diabetes from post‑registration experience and study, equivalent to master's level.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Graduate in nursing or health‑related studies.
  • Counselling qualification.
  • Management qualification.
  • Specialist practitioner qualification.
Experience (Essential)
  • Sufficient post‑registration experience in a variety of settings, including caring for diabetic patients to allow the person to practice advanced nursing skills.
Desirable Experience
  • Community nursing experience.
  • Initiation or involvement in research or audit.
Knowledge (Essential)
