Activity Coordinator – Richmond Villages

Salary: £12.80 - £13.80 per hour
About the RoleThe Donnington in Newbury focuses on round‑clock support for a wide range of needs. Care provision includes nursing or residential care, convalescence and respite, as well as palliative care support and help for adults with Parkinson's. Residents can stay for a week, a month or longer, and the home offers a dedicated respite room that can be booked up to six months in advance.
The converted red‑brick Victorian house provides social environments, light and airy lounges, en‑suite bedrooms and on‑site therapies.
The chef ensures a nutritionally balanced menu, and many activities are offered: art classes, musical recitals, summer fetes, and annual events. As an activity coordinator you create a vibrant, joy‑filled atmosphere, planning events and hobbies such as arts and crafts, baking, book clubs, pub quizzes, gentle chair‑based exercise, garden parties, meditation, and wellbeing classes.
Responsibilities- Running morning and afternoon activity sessions.
- Producing and updating an activity planner for the home, working to a set activities budget.
- Organising birthday surprises for our residents.
- Liaising with external companies and performers from the local community to organise days out / events at the home.
- Organising one‑to‑ones with our residents, involving reminiscing tools, puzzles, reading or simply a cup of tea and a chat.
- Supporting the home with its social media channels as required.
Skills & Qualifications
You’re a creative thinker with plenty of ideas, able to manage budgets and maintain paperwork, effectively prioritising as priorities arise. You are interested in caring for others, sharing your sense of humour and spreading enthusiasm for improving people’s lives.
