Production Shift Supervisor

Location:

Newbury
Salary:
Up to £33,000 per year

Hours:

38.75 hours per week, Monday-Friday (10am-6pm, with flexibility to cover early shifts)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

An exciting opportunity for a Production Shift Supervisor to lead and coordinate all production and end-of-day clean-down activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This hands-on role focuses on motivating teams, driving performance, and fostering a strong safety-first culture while delivering production targets and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

Lead and develop the shift team to achieve production targets.
Manage staffing activities, training, and onboarding.
Promote a positive, respectful working environment.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

Ensure compliance with food safety and health & safety regulations.
Maintain high housekeeping standards and product quality.
Investigate and escalate incidents and near misses.

Production Control & Process Management

Coordinate daily production to meet output and efficiency targets.
Oversee clean-down and setup for next day's production.
Monitor KPIs and liaise with maintenance for repairs.

Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement process improvements.
Engage operators in CI initiatives and waste reduction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with maintenance, technical, warehouse, and planning teams.
Support new product introductions and trials.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

Proven experience in manufacturing supervision or team leadership.
Strong understanding of production processes and KPIs.
Knowledge of health & safety and quality standards.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

Experience in food manufacturing.
Training in Lean, Six Sigma, or CI tools.
Familiarity with OEE or similar performance systems.
