Join our dedicated team at Wellspring Medical Practice, where we are committed to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community. We are looking for a friendly and organised Medical Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our practice.
Main duties of the job- Greet patients and visitors in a warm and professional manner.
- Manage appointment bookings, cancellations, and rescheduling.
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries efficiently.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update information as needed.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Ensure the reception area is tidy and welcoming at all times.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals and support staff to ensure smooth operations.
We are a well-established, patient-focused GP practice providing primary care services to approximately 6,500 registered patients
. Our practice is known for delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Our multidisciplinary team includes GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff who work closely together to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and excellent patient experiences. As the first point of contact for many of our patients, our reception team plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth running of the practice.
We use modern clinical systems and follow best-practice procedures to manage appointments, patient enquiries, and administrative tasks effectively. We value professionalism, confidentiality, and a friendly, respectful approach when supporting our diverse patient population.

Job responsibilitiesWe are looking for someone 30 hours per week, flexible with days. Working pattern to likely be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Greet patients courteously and professionally, in person and by telephone
Manage appointment bookings, cancellations, and queries using the clinical system
Signpost patients to the appropriate clinician or service
Handle general administrative duties including filing, scanning, and data entry
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Support the wider administrative team to ensure smooth day-to-day practice operations.
Person Specification Experience- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy environment
- Basic IT skills and confidence using computer systems
- Professional, polite, and patient-focused approach
- Experience of working in primary care
- Experience of working in a GP practice
