Our client, a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Groundworks / Civils Site Manager to oversee Section 278 works, road improvements, and associated groundworks on a major project in Newcastle.

As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of on‑site operations. You will coordinate trades, manage subcontractors, and ensure all works comply with design specifications, programme requirements, and industry standards.

• Manage day‑to‑day site operations for S278 works, road improvements, drainage, kerbing, utilities, and general groundworks
• Lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors
• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, RAMS, and company procedures
• Monitor progress against programme and report to the Project Manager
• Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and the client's team
• Maintain high standards of quality control and site documentation
• Identify and resolve technical or construction issues as they arise

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering or groundworks
• Strong background in Section 278 / road works
• SMSTS, CSCS (Black/White), and First Aid
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to read drawings and manage multiple site activities
• Full UK driving licence
