Leonardo, based in Edinburgh with an additional location in Newcastle upon Tyne, is recruiting for a Graduate Supportability Engineer to join the Radar and Advanced Targeting Business Unit.
Job DescriptionAs a Graduate Supportability Engineer you will work within Integrated Product Teams to provide a customer‑oriented focus on the design characteristics and performance of next‑generation Ultra‑High‑Performance Radar Systems, Laser and Electro‑Optical Systems, and Inertial Navigation Systems. Your work will span the full lifecycle of the equipment – from concept and requirements analysis, through design, development, testing, delivery, and in‑service support.
Key Responsibility Areas- Generating, assessing, and delivering analyses of the Reliability, Maintainability, Testability, and Safety (RMT&S) characteristics of new products and product upgrades.
- Analyzing a variety of technologies including optical, mechanical, low‑power and high‑power electronics, digital and analogue control and processing, and RF transmission.
- Learning and developing support processes and customer operational needs to help design support solutions using state‑of‑the‑art modelling, simulation tools, and test environments.
- Working closely with Systems, Mechanical, Laser, RF, Electronics, and Software engineers to identify and mitigate real support‑related problems before they reach the customer environment.
- Participating in investigations and assessments of reliability, maintainability, testability, and support solution methodologies to enhance future Supportability Engineering capabilities within Leonardo.
- Minimum of a 2:2 Bachelor’s/Integrated Master’s degree, or a higher degree such as MSc or PhD.
- Acceptable degree subjects include Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematical Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering (other degrees may also be considered).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to a structured 18‑month Graduate Programme progressing through various technical projects.
This role requires pre‑employment screening to the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional National Security Vetting may apply, potentially requiring a Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV). For more information, visit Leonardo Security & Vetting.
